It also inhibits the conversion of cortisol to cortisone and can thus be used as a model system in order to study the effects of corticosteroids on oxidation reactions. Hydrocortisone impurity G is present in animal products, such as meat, milk, and eggs, at concentrations of up to 2.5%. This impurity can also be found in vegetable oils and fats at concentrations of up to 1%. The presence of this compound has been confirmed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
