Descripción:p-Cresol-2,3,5,6-d4 is a metabolite of p-cresol. It is produced by the intestinal microflora of humans and animals. This compound has been detected in urine samples of patients with liver disease and in the feces of healthy human volunteers. p-Cresol-2,3,5,6-d4 is an aromatic amino acid that can be synthesized from toluene or by hydroxyation of an aromatic amino acid by escherichia coli. The enzyme responsible for this reaction is called phenylalanine hydroxylase.
