Descripción:1,3-Dihydro-1-[2-hydroxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-5-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-benzimidazol-2-one is a compound that inhibits mitochondrial respiratory complex I. It binds to the mitochondrial ATP synthase and prevents the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is essential for the function of the mitochondria. This drug has been shown to inhibit microglia, which are cells in the central nervous system that play a role in inflammatory response. The drug also has been shown to induce reactive oxygen species production, as well as mitochondrial membrane depolarization and hyperpolarization in SKN-SH cells.
