Descripción:2-[DiMethyl-(4-piperidin-1-ylmethyl)-phenyl]-phenyl}-methanol (2DPMP) is an oxindole that has a high yield of 81%. The yields are insensitive to orientation and insensitive to the presence of hydroxyl groups. 2DPMP can be synthesized by olefination of dihydroorotate with a methyl phenylsilane. This reaction is followed by photolysis to cleave the benzotriazole protecting group. 2DPMP is an isomeric mixture of two conformationally restricted oxindole conformers. The desired conformer can be selected by using a chiral catalyst, yielding pure 2DPMP in high yield.
