The micelles are able to bind to and remove chloride ions from biological samples. This compound was found in the plasma of rats treated with fulminant hepatic failure. Trifluoroacetyl-L-aminoethoxy-l-phosphonate may be a useful biomarker for fulminant hepatic failure, as it is not found in healthy rats.
