It is used as a solvent and an additive for industrial products. 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropan-2-one trihydrate is also used in the production of antimicrobial agents. In addition to being an excellent solvent and additive for industrial products and antimicrobial agents, this chemical has been shown to have high values in water vapor and metal hydroxides. It also displays thermal expansion properties and can be obtained as either anhydrous sodium or hexafluoroacetone.
