It is soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers. 7-Methoxy-2-naphthol is an organic compound with chemical formula C10H9O3S and hydrogen sulfate groups. This compound can be found in many plants, such as naphthalene, and has pharmacological properties. 7-Methoxy-2-naphthol is used to induce coagulation of blood plasma and for the manufacture of dyes and perfumes. It reacts with ethyl orthoformate to form ethyl 2-(methoxycarbonyl)benzothiazolecarboxylate, which is used to synthesize azo dyes for the textile industry.
