Descripción:Methyl 3-isothiocyanatothiophene-2-carboxylate (MITC) is a molecule that has been shown to interact with single-stranded DNA. MITC interacts with the minor groove of DNA, which may be due to its ability to bind to peptides and proteins. MITC has also been shown to regulate the anisotropy of fluorescence and the magnetic properties of iron oxide nanoparticles. MITC can be used as a contrast agent in x-ray crystallography studies on DNA molecules.
