Descripción:2-Methoxy-3-bromobenzoic acid is a lead compound that has been reassessed for its ability to inhibit viral replication. The synthesis of this compound can be achieved by the demethylation of mycophenolic acid, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of mycophenolate mofetil. The chloride salt of 2-methoxy-3-bromobenzoic acid is anhydrous and crystallizes from water as colorless needles. This compound inhibits the methylation of mycophenolic acid to form mycophenolate mofetil, thereby preventing the use of this drug in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
