Descripción:Cis-7-Tetradecenal is a pheromone that is commonly produced by lepidopterans. It has been shown to be effective in the control of pest populations, such as the cotton bollworm and the corn earworm. Cis-7-Tetradecenal has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. This compound was synthesized from polyvinyl chloride and cellulose acetate. It is a colorless liquid with an oily consistency that can be dissolved in organic solvents. The odor of cis-7-tetradecenal has been described as fruity, like apple or grapefruit.
