It has been shown to have good solubility and high purity, as well as being suitable for use in the synthesis of phosphoramidites. 5'-Azido-5'-deoxy-2'O-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-methyluridine also inhibits viral replication by blocking the synthesis of DNA. The compound is a nucleoside with a modified base and activated phosphate group, which can be used in DNA and RNA synthesis.
