It has been shown to inhibit the production of new viruses in cultured cells and to be active against some strains of influenza virus. The modification was developed by chemists at Boehringer Ingelheim, who have also synthesised other novel nucleosides that are being tested as anticancer agents. This product is a monophosphate derivative with a high purity level and a CAS number.
