Descripción:Dov-216,303 is a selective and potent inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) that is used as an antidepressant. Dov-216,303 inhibits the activity of MAO-A in the brain by binding to it and preventing it from breaking down monoamines such as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. It has also been shown to be effective against nicotine addiction. The drug is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and has a number of polymorphic forms. Dov-216,303 inhibits the metabolism of other drugs that are substrates for CYP450 enzymes, including tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline and imipramine.
