Descripción:Abacavir is an antiviral drug that is used to treat HIV/AIDS. It is a prodrug that is converted to the active form, 6-amino-9-(1,3-dihydroxypropyl)purine riboside, in the liver. Abacavir is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and sulfotransferases. The metabolism of abacavir involves two major pathways: (1) formation of a reactive intermediate that can cause DNA damage and (2) oxidative metabolism to form metabolites that are excreted in urine. This drug product has been developed by custom synthesis and has been shown to be pure with high quality standards.
