CAS :Selenious acid is a white, odorless crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It has been used as a fixative agent in biological and biochemical studies. Selenium inhibits the activity of cyclin D2, nitrate reductase, and methyltransferases. Selenious acid also has inhibitory properties against human lung cells (HL-60). The rate constant for the reaction with selenite was determined to be 1.8 x 10^(-4) M-1 s-1 at 25 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than that of other metal ions tested.
