CAS :1,2,4-thiadiazol-5-amine hydrochloride is a compound that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids and proteins in bacteria. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Cochliobolus species by interfering with the enzyme trimethyl. 1,2,4-Thiadiazol-5-amine hydrochloride binds to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. This drug also has anti-angiogenic effects and has been shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. The optimum pH for this drug is 7.0 and it does not have an effect on erythrocytes or human leukocytes.
