CAS :HEPES is a buffer solution made up of the salts of an organic acid and a weak base. It is used to maintain pH in biochemical experiments and for buffering solutions in biological systems, such as, blood plasma. HEPES can also be used in dilution assays to measure prothrombin time (PT) with microbial surfactant lysis and it has been shown to have significant neuroprotective effects when exposed to light.
