Description :2-Methoxy-5-methylphenyl isocyanate (2MMIP) is a carbamate with high affinity for σ receptor. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth in culture and suppress the proliferation of cancer cells in mice. The pharmacophore of 2MMIP is hydrophobic and lipophilic, which enables it to penetrate cell membranes and bind to receptors on the surface of tumor cells. 2MMIP also acts as a ligand for σ1 receptor, which may explain its anti-tumor activity. 2MMIP has been used as an anticancer drug by mesylation with aromatic amines or phenols.
