CAS 114-49-8: Bromidrato di scopolamina

Descrizione:

  • Scopolamine hydrobromide

    CAS:
Scopolamine hydrobromide is an anticholinergic medication, which is a derivative of tropane alkaloids sourced primarily from Solanaceae family plants, such as Hyoscyamus niger and Datura stramonium. Its mode of action involves competitive inhibition of acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems. This blocking effect impedes parasympathetic nerve impulses, leading to diminished activity in smooth muscles and glandular secretions. This compound is extensively used in clinical settings for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness and postoperative nausea and vomiting. Its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier makes it effective in influencing central nervous system activities, particularly within the vestibular pathways. Additionally, it has applications in ophthalmology for pupil dilation due to its mydriatic effect. The understanding of its molecular interactions and effects on neurotransmitter pathways is crucial for advancing therapeutic uses, as well as minimizing potential side effects such as dry mouth and blurred vision.
