Diethyl-pythiDC is a molecule that modulates cellular processes. It is currently being investigated as a potential therapeutic for colorectal cancer. Diethyl-pythiDC has been shown to bind to the α subunit of the protein CD26, which is expressed on colonic epithelial cells and regulates collagen production. Diethyl-pythiDC also inhibits the expression of certain markers associated with cancerous growths in the colon tissue. The gene transcriptome in these tissues was also altered by this drug, which may be due to its ability to inhibit extracellular matrix production.
