Acido chenodesossicolico (CDCA) è un acido biliare che svolge un ruolo cruciale nella digestione e nell'assorbimento dei grassi alimentari e delle vitamine liposolubili nell'intestino. È una polvere cristallina bianca o bianco sporco, solubile in acqua e in solventi organici come etanolo e metanolo. Il CDCA è sintetizzato nel fegato a partire dal colesterolo ed è un acido biliare primario, il che significa che è prodotto direttamente dal colesterolo piuttosto che derivato da altri acidi biliari.
