Flurbiprofene sodico è un farmaco antinfiammatorio non steroideo (FANS) utilizzato principalmente per le sue proprietà analgesiche e antinfiammatorie. È la forma salina sodica del flurbiprofene, che ne migliora la solubilità in acqua, rendendolo adatto per varie formulazioni farmaceutiche. Il composto è caratterizzato dalla sua capacità di inibire le enzimi cicloossigenasi (COX), riducendo così la sintesi delle prostaglandine, che sono mediatori dell'infiammazione e del dolore. Flurbiprofene sodico è spesso utilizzato nel trattamento di condizioni come artrite, dolore dentale e dolore post-operatorio. Di solito appare come una polvere cristallina bianca o bianco sporco ed è solubile in acqua e alcol. It has shown to be an effective treatment for the reduction of pain and inflammation associated with certain diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis. The drug also binds to DNA and blocks its ability to form supercoiled strands. This binding prevents transcription of genetic information from DNA into RNA, which is needed for protein production. Sodium 2-fluoro-alpha-methyl[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-acetate has been shown to inhibit bcl2 protein expression and may increase the risk of developing cancer.
