Eupalinilide B is a plant extract that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal inflammation. It has potent cytotoxic effects against tumor cell lines and inhibits the growth of certain bacteria. Eupalinilide B also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. This compound is found in plants from the genus Eupatorium, and it has been shown to neutralize free radicals. The chemical structure of eupalinilide B can be determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). The NMR spectrum shows peaks at 2.1 ppm, 3.5 ppm, 4.8 ppm, and 5.6 ppm corresponding to lactones A-D respectively.
