Acido trifluoroacetico (TFA) è un liquido incolore e pungente con la formula chimica C2HF3O2. È un acido organico forte, caratterizzato dalla presenza di tre atomi di fluoro attaccati alla struttura del carbonio, che aumenta significativamente la sua acidità rispetto all'acido acetico.
