It is also used to make metal molybdenum. It has a wide band gap n-type semiconductor with distinctive electrochromic, thermochromic, and photochromic properties. It has been widely investigated as a smart material for catalysis sensors, lubricants, lithium battery, organic solar cells, and display materials. Molybdenum(VI) oxide (MoO3) is employed as an adhesive between enamels and metals. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
