Descrizione:2,4-diaminobenzoic acid is a substrate in the shikimate pathway of bacteria, which is an essential metabolic process for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids. It inhibits this metabolic pathway by preventing the conversion of chorismate to shikimate-3-phosphate, which blocks the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids. 2,4-DBA also has potent inhibitory activity against several bacterial strains and can be used as a pharmaceutical drug for treating infections caused by these bacteria. 2,4-DBA is used as a monosodium salt in order to increase its solubility and stability in water and to prevent amide hydrolysis.
