This compound has been shown to be activated by paraformaldehyde and low yield, as well as oriented into a chiral form. It can be thermally multistep to produce other compounds such as spironolactone and its derivatives. Spironolactone Related Compound C is also irreversibly oxidized by sulfur in the presence of catalysts such as copper sulfate and potassium dichromate.
