Descrizione:(S)-(+)-5-Bromomethyl-2-pyrrolidinone is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds. It binds to the active site of a bacterial enzyme, which prevents the formation of acylhomoserine and blocks the synthesis of peptidoglycan. This molecule has been shown to be effective against gram-negative bacteria, but not against lactamase-producing strains or those resistant to other antibiotics. (S)-(+)-5-Bromomethyl-2-pyrrolidinone has a structural modification that allows it to bind more tightly and specifically than penicillin G, which increases its antibacterial activity.
