Descrizione:Bis(carboxymethyl)trithiocarbonate (BCMT) is a potent inhibitor of Cox-2. BCMT has been shown to inhibit COX-2 activity in animals, and it was found to be safe for use in humans. BCMT also inhibits the activity of other enzymes involved in inflammation, such as lipoxygenase, 5-lipoxygenase, and cyclooxygenase. This molecule has been shown to have anti-cancer properties and is being used clinically to treat cancers with high levels of Cox-2 expression. BCMT inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines that promote tumor growth by inhibiting the function of cell signaling pathways. The molecular structure of this compound contains a phosphate group, which may be responsible for its potent inhibitory activity on Cox-2 enzyme.
