Descrizione:2-[6-(4-Chlorophenoxy)hexyl]oxiranecarboxylic acid ethyl ester (2-CPH-COOEt) is a synthetic, nonsteroidal compound that inhibits the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I. 2-CPH-COOEt does not bind to any other sites in mitochondria and does not inhibit any other enzymes or ion channels. It has been shown to have synergistic effects on cells with metabolic disorders, such as congestive heart failure. This drug also has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth and induce apoptosis in breast cancer cells. The mechanism of action is by preventing the release of cytochrome C from mitochondria into the cytosol, which causes an increase in mitochondrial membrane potential and the activation of signal pathways that lead to apoptosis.
