Descrizione:Diethyl 1,1-cyclopropanedicarboxylate is a nucleophilic compound that has a high solubility in organic solvents. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of β-unsaturated aldehydes and diethyl esters. This compound also reacts with metal salts to form cyclopropanes. The ring-opening reactions of this compound are inhibited by aluminium and zinc powder. Diethyl 1,1-cyclopropanedicarboxylate is synthesized by reacting ethylene carbonate with acetone in the presence of acid catalyst at elevated temperatures.
