It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including bacterial strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Enterococcus faecalis. The antibacterial effect of this compound may be due to its ability to modify the cation channel in bacterial cells. This cation channel is essential for transporting nutrients into the cell and for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Ethyl acetimidate hydrochloride may inhibit protease activity by binding irreversibly to the active site of these enzymes, leading to inhibition of bacterial growth.
