Descrizione:Firategrast is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the chemokine receptor CXCR4. It inhibits the binding of the chemokine ligand, which prevents activation of the receptor and its downstream signaling pathways. Firategrast has shown efficacy in vitro against various disease activity models in preclinical studies and is currently being evaluated for safety and efficacy in clinical trials for patients with autoimmune diseases. The drug is also used to treat blood disorders, such as hemophilia B and immune deficiencies. The drug has been found to be safe at doses up to 10 mg/kg when administered intravenously or subcutaneously in humans.
Firategrast has pharmacokinetic properties that allow it to cross the blood-brain barrier and inhibit neuronal inflammation. This anti-inflammatory property may be due to its ability to inhibit molecules such as MMP-3, which are involved in inflammatory responses.
