Furan-2-carbothioamide will react with chloride to yield an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid and nitrite. Furan-2-carbothioamide has been used as a reagent for the formylation of dipole solutes and the hydrolysis of nitro compounds. Furan-2-carbothioamide is also very soluble in benzene and reacts with solvents such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, or sulfuric acid.
