Descrizione:1-(4-Isothiocyanatophenyl)ethanone (1-ITCPE) is a chalcone molecule that binds to toxic metal ions, such as copper and lead. It has been shown to bind with copper ions in the presence of a chalcone ligand with binding constants of 0.5 and 1.0 μM respectively. 1-ITCPE has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by enhancing fluorescence from the toxins produced by bacteria, making it a potential fluorescent probe for on-line detection of bacteria. These properties make 1-ITCPE an excellent candidate for use in nanosensors for rationalized detection of metal ions and bacterial toxins.
