Descrizione:1-(5-Methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanone is a triflate that is used as an efficient catalyst in organic synthesis. It has been found to catalyze the acylation of 5-chloroindole and 5-methoxyindole with benzoyl chloride to yield the corresponding 1-(5-chloro-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanone and 1-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanone. The reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature, but requires irradiation with UV light or sunlight to proceed. This product has also been shown to have a high catalytic activity for the acetylation of phenols and amines, producing the corresponding nitrophenols and pyridinium chlorides. This product is an acidic compound that has been used in science experiments involving copper.
