Descrizione:Tenatoprazole is a prodrug that is converted to its active form, 2-mercapto-5-methoxyimidazole-[4,5-b]pyridine (TMP), in the stomach. Tenatoprazole inhibits gastric acid secretion by binding to the H/K ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach and prevents the release of hydrogen ions into the stomach. TMP also inhibits gastric acid secretion by inhibiting histamine release from enterochromaffin cells and blocking calcium channels. This drug has been shown to be effective for treating peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
