It has been shown to react with nucleophiles such as hydroxide ion or amine groups in a nucleophilic attack, which leads to bond cleavage and formation of new bonds. 4-Methoxycyclohexanol has two isomers, cis and trans. The reaction time for the reaction between cis and trans isomers is different because the former reacts faster than the latter. It can also be used as a liquid phase for gas chromatography. 4-Methoxycyclohexanol has been observed to produce large particle sizes during polymerization reactions.
