Descrizione:Ertapenem is a drug that belongs to the class of carbapenems. It is used to treat infections caused by gram-positive bacteria and certain types of gram-negative bacteria, such as pneumoniae and Enterobacteriaceae. The most common side effects of ertapenem are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache. Ertapenem has been shown to be effective for the treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and tetracycline-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. Ertapenem binds to the ribosomal 50S subunit in these bacteria and prevents protein synthesis. This drug has also been shown to have electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) properties that allow it to be used as a biosensor for bacterial identification.
