It is an aldehyde with the chemical formula CH3C6H5CHO. 4MMMB has been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, which converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. This inhibition of prostaglandins causes anti-inflammatory effects in animal models.br>
