Descrizione:N-Me-Leu-OH is a natural product that is a potent inducer of macrophage phagocytosis. It has been shown to activate murine macrophages in vitro, leading to an increased uptake of apoptotic cells and the release of proinflammatory cytokines. N-Me-Leu-OH also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit reactive oxygen species production by human neutrophils. This compound has been shown to reduce infarct size in mice after myocardial infarction and increase survival rates when administered postmyocardial infarction. Mechanistically, this effect may be due to N-Me-Leu-OH's ability to inhibit TNFα production.
