Descrizione:Met-enkephalin is an endogenous opioid peptide that is a member of the enkephalins. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and can be used as an experimental model for bowel disease. The synthesis of Met-enkephalin is regulated by neurotrophic factors, such as nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Met-enkephalin has also been shown to have receptor activity and can be used in the treatment of infectious diseases. Met-enkephalin is synthesized in the dorsal root ganglia and released into the spinal cord, where it acts on other opioid receptors to inhibit pain.
