Descrizione:2-Pyridinylthiourea is a potent antibacterial that has been shown to have an additive effect when combined with other antimicrobial agents such as hydrochloric acid. 2-Pyridinylthiourea inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the bacterial ribosome and blocking the synthesis of proteins. 2-Pyridinylthiourea also blocks glutamate receptors, which are involved in the regulation of neurotransmission.
2-Pyridinylthiourea is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and ether. This compound has a crystalline structure that can be seen using FTIR spectroscopy and nmr spectra.
