Descrizione:Lomitapide is a drug that inhibits the enzyme PCSK9, which regulates the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the blood. It is used to treat people with high LDL cholesterol levels who have already tried other treatments, such as diet and exercise. Lomitapide has been shown to reduce LDL-cholesterol by up to 60% in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis and metabolic disorders. In clinical trials, lomitapide was well tolerated for up to 2 years of treatment, with side effects such as headache and diarrhea occurring at rates similar to those seen in patients taking placebo.
