Descrizione:Dimebon is a pharmacological agent that belongs to the group of neuroprotective drugs. It has anti-apoptotic and neurotrophic effects, which help to maintain neuronal health and prevent neuronal death. Dimebon also has a synergistic effect with other neuroprotective agents. The neuroprotective properties of dimebon are due to its ability to inhibit autophagy and apoptosis in neurons. Dimebon also blocks the activity of receptors for acetylcholine, serotonin, glutamate, dopamine and nitric oxide synthase (NOS), thereby inhibiting neuronal cell death induced by these neurotransmitters. Dimebon has been shown to be effective in vivo in models of minimal toxicity and minimal side effects.
