Description:²-Methylphenethylamine-d4 is a synthetic precursor of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) that can be used for the detection of amines in biological samples. Its asymmetric synthesis has been achieved using a copper complex as a catalyst for the condensation reaction between 2-methylbenzaldehyde and paraformaldehyde.
