Description:Isoamyl DL-Mandelate is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of akebiae. It is a lipophilic ester that has been shown to inhibit the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Isoamyl DL-Mandelate may also be effective for treating prostate carcinoma and prostatic hypertrophy. This drug inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the phospholipid layer of the cell membrane, which disrupts the integrity of bacterial membranes. Isoamyl DL-Mandelate also has anticholinergic properties, which may reduce urinary incontinence in patients with prostate carcinoma or prostatic hypertrophy.
