Brand:Biosynth
Description:Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) is a compound that can be used to make epoxy resins. It is reactive, which means it reacts readily with other compounds. BADGE is often found in wastewater treatment plants and has been shown to react with p-hydroxybenzoic acid to form benzene and glycidol, which are carcinogenic. BADGE also has been shown to cause mutations in the calf thymus DNA and inhibit the activity of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. In vitro assays have shown that an optimum concentration of BADGE is 0.2 mM for bacteria growth inhibition, while electrochemical impedance spectroscopy has demonstrated that BADGE inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
