Description:Trans,trans-1,5-Bis(4-fluorophenyl)-1,4-pentadien-3-one is an antitumour compound that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It exhibits cytotoxicity against a wide range of cancer cell lines and has been shown to have a conformation similar to that of the natural substrate for the enzyme glutathione S-transferase. This molecule also has vicinal carbonyl groups with electronegativity values that are symmetric and comparable. The trans,trans isomer has greater potency than the cis,cis isomer for inhibition of tumour cells in vitro.
