Description:3-(2-Benzothiazolylthio)propionic Acid is a synthetic carboxylic acid that has strong antioxidant activity. It protects polymers and other materials from degradation by oxygen and UV light, stabilizes reactive intermediates, and protects against the effects of peroxides. 3-(2-Benzothiazolylthio)propionic Acid also exhibits long-term stability in the presence of water and high water solubility. It reacts with carboxylic acids to release hydrogen sulfide gas. The reaction time may be shortened by ultrasonic irradiation. 3-(2-Benzothiazolylthio)propionic Acid is not corrosive to metal surfaces, but can corrode polymers such as nylon and polyethylene.
